This is a lovely 4 bedroom home with a lower level bunk room on Lake Rabun. It has been the family get away home since building was completed in 2004. With kids in high school and college now it is not used as much as I would like so I have decided to share it with others. The home is located at the quiet end of the lake and has a 1/2 acre field between the house and the water which is great for the young ones to run around and play. There is a dirt road between the house and the lake. There is great hiking to multiple waterfalls within a mile of the home. There are great dining choices as well. The rental includes the use of kayaks. The home has large wrap around decks and grills. There is a boat house with covered seating and an open air sun platform on the lake. The house has a king in the master, 2 bedrooms with 2 full sized beds in each, a fourth bedroom with a king bed, and a bunk room having bunk beds and an additional full sized bed. The kitchen features a gas-burning oven and stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee machine, Keurig, dishwasher and garbage disposal. If by chance you aren’t taking your meals on the six-seat dining table on our screened-in porch (which features our second charcoal grill), our indoor dining table seats eight (five chairs and one bench) for casual meals. We also have a restaurant-style high chair available for your use, if needed. The family room is cozy and inviting with a new couch (which folds out to a full-sized bed) and comfy upholstered swivel-rocker chairs, all of which are working hard to divide their time between the entertainment center (stocked with a 43-inch TV, books, movies and board games) and the real star of the show, a floor-to-vaulted-ceiling stone fireplace. The two guest bedrooms are also located downstairs. One features a pillow-top queen bed and the other – in true Lake Rabun fashion – bunk beds with easy and fun access to the top bunk via the built in steps/drawers. Both bedrooms have plenty of closet space and storage, and the comfy beds are nicely appointed with new, crisp linens and quilts. These bedrooms share the immaculate main-floor bathroom, which features a roomy vanity/sink, large (stocked) linen closet and shower/tub. If a quick load of laundry is on your agenda, a washer/dryer combo is conveniently located on the main floor near the bathroom. The master suite, with an attached bath and king-sized bed, is located on the second floor, offering quiet seclusion from the rest of the home. If you’re tempted to watch television, the cleanly appointed master bedroom features one of the two TVs in Little Lakemont. Just outside the master is a sunny reading loft, where an overstuffed leather chair and ottoman invite you to settle in and enjoy a good book (borrow one of ours or bring your own) - or take a nap! - with views of Lake Rabun and the boathouse just below. Also on the top floor is a small, gabled bedroom with a single bed, perfect for a child (or an adult who would prefer the privacy of his/her own room versus the pull-out sofa in the living room!). There’s plenty of room in this bedroom for a pack-and-play (not provided) for the littlest ones. There will be no need to leave Little Lakemont once you arrive, but there’s plenty of exploring at your fingertips, should you feel compelled to wander. Enjoy Angel Falls (you can walk from our driveway to the trail head), Minnehaha Falls (a short drive to the trail head), Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain State Parks, all offering hiking trails and pristine views. Hall’s Marina, Lake Rabun Inn and Restaurant and Louie’s on the Lake are a short drive away; historic Lakemont beckons with its quaint shopping area, art and café; and plenty of creature comforts are available in the nearest city – Clayton, Georgia – as well as antique shops and family-owned restaurants. Availability: April 26 - November 30; rental during winter on request This unique house is located in Perrin Cove on the beautiful emerald green waters of Lake Burton. The homesite once was the location of a 1920's fishing cabin with a handsome rock fireplace. Through the years, the cabin was eventually reclaimed by the mountains, but the fireplace remained. In 1960, the current owners discovered the fireplace and built a small, cozy cabin around it. Later on, two large additions were made to the little cabin: one for a master bedroom suite, and one for a large dining room. Also added to the grounds were a two-story garage and a two-story boathouse. The main house itself has four bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. There is also a sleeping loft with twin beds. The original house has its own screened-in front porch and sitting area with porch swing, and also has the original wood-burning rock fireplace (there is a generous supply of wood stacked on the grounds). The 'new' part of the house has a large living room with gas logs in the fireplace, a spectacular dining room with a huge round table and its own fireplace with gas logs, large galley kitchen, large master suite, and a large wooden deck with a hot tub. There are views of the lake from the porch, deck, master bedroom, living room and dining room. Down the hill is the two-story boathouse with a separate bedroom (no bathroom). Sit on the porch swings and hammock and let your cares fade away. For the more active vacationers, swimming, boating and kayaking are absolutely fabulous in this pristine lake! Up the hill from the main house is the two-story garage. A curving covered walkway lets you escape those mountain showers during loading and unloading your car when getting from the garage to the house. Above the garage is a separate, private queen bedroom and bath with shower; and there is a wonderful little porch with an Adirondak chair waiting for you. The water in Lake Burton is some of the cleanest in the state--it holds the most beautiful colors of nature, reflecting the green trees in spring and summer, the autumn hues in fall, and the bright blue of the skies in winter. There are two marinas on Lake Burton where you can rent a boat and tour the lake or have fun skiing, wake-boarding, and tubing. The area surrounding Lake Burton holds many pleasant surprises for those adventurous enough to leave the lake. Try your hand at trout fishing, whitewater rafting, exploring nearby waterfalls, and hiking the mountain trails. There are several wine and distillery tours close to the lake. Clayton is nearby, and Highlands, NC is a short trip, too. And don't miss the local places like Goats on the Roof (they really are on the roof!), and the Alpine town of Helen. For those who like to eat great food, don't miss LaPrade's (casual grill as well as restaurant) and the Farmhouse, both on Lake Burton. Drive a little further, and visit Fortify in Clayton and the Rabun Hotel on Lake Rabun. If you prefer to eat in, there are two Big Green Eggs and also a conventional barbeque grill ready to fire up and use at the house. The owners are members of The Waterfall Club on the lake. With advanced notice, they can arrange for you to be their guests and to use their member privileges. You just pay for what you use with a credit card. Dining in the clubhouse is a particularly exclusive experience because of the spectacular views of the lake. CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We are taking precautions that are recommended by the CDC to make every attempt to have clean and safe premises for our vacationers! There is a minimum of 24 hours (usually 36-48 hours) between rentals. The cleaning crew is using disinfectants to clean all hard surfaces. Our family has been coming to Lake Burton since 1943 and our grandmother purchased this property in 1949. With over 1000 feet of shoreline we are one of the largest lots on Lake Burton. Macy across dirt road . The two story boathouse sits on the lake, complete with a partly covered upper deck plus adjoining dock with slide and swimming cove. Great for entertaining or enjoying cocktails while watching the sunset over the Georgia mountains. Boathouse comes with a canoe and 2 kayaks, but power boats and boathouse boat hoists are EXCLUDED. Power boats and ski do's may be rented separately from independent boat rental companies, and attached to dock by two sets of (outside) boatwhips on either side of the boathouse during the rental. The boathouse offers a perfect setting for a hot summer's day swim, relaxing on floats, or fishing off of the dock. The boathouse also offers a slide, fun for young children. There is a tiny beach area in the foliage behind the dock on which the slide is located, where supervised young children can play in shallow water. Otherwise the water is 37 feet deep off the boathouse. . Birdwatcher's paradise: wide variety of birds come to the feeders, and if you are quiet about an hour before midnight, the fearless FLYING SQUIRRELS will quietly swoop in to the feeders on the broad treetops deck, often in groups. Other wildlife sighted on the property include an adult Black Bear doing a pirouette on our deck railing to reach the bird feeder, black racers, bullfrogs, water snakes, crows, numerous birds, chipmunks, squirrels, deer , bees and a wide variety of fish , some quite large.
